A touching story of a small, scrawny, bespectacled, down-trodden bullied kid, abandoned and forgotten by all, who rises up against his oppressors and ultimately triumphs, regaining his self-confidence, the respect of his peers, and, of course, the girl (when you’re 13, there HAS to be a girl involved). Over the next few months, I just kept adding to it. I kept all of that negativity and self-loathing inside me for decades.īut the wave of nostalgia I felt turned into a fantasy: namely, if I could go back to those days, how would I have changed my life’s story to make it perfect? And so I wrote a scene in my head, and it played like a movie. But the bullying took its toll on me, and it continued all through high school. In January of that year, after connecting with a lot of my old classmates from Middle School, I started to get very nostalgic for my preteen and early teen years which, apart from the bullying, I enjoyed. Up until September 2014, I hadn’t written anything more edifying than a movie review or a TV recap since High School. I look to begin writing my third book in the series, which I am tentatively calling “Sophie’s Different”, within the next month.įiona: When and why did you begin writing? It is a sequel to my first book, “Joshua’s Island,” which I self-published in January this year. My second book, “Ethan’s Secret”, will debut on Amazon (in both softcover and e-book formats) on August 17, which just happens to be my 46 th birthday. I am not college-educated, and I never took any writing courses except for Creative Writing back in High School. My parents live only 20 minutes away, which is always nice. We have no children, but are loving parents to June and Sunshine, a dog and a cat that think they’re children. I have been married to my wife Vaneza for 15 years this October. I currently live in Glendale, AZ.Ī little about your self `ie your education Family life etc
