If you’re going to write in an Asian adoptee, be clear about what Asian we’re talking about.

It didn’t specify what type of Asian we’re talking about here. But I have some issues in regards to this. Now, as an #ownvoices reader, I was excited to see that Becca was Asian. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to see a bisexual main character, with a Black and an Asian side character. When I first opened this book, I admit that I was a bit worried I was just going to end up seeing plain white toast. There’s a diverse cast of characters here. Why? Just what I’m in the mood for and boy, oh boy. But this month, I’ve been feeling - well, I’m reading as many spooky books as I have, basically. I had intended to read it for spooky month, but I got busy and I put this book on the back burner.

I actually bought this book last year, just before Halloween.

With her sister gone, Sara doesn’t know whether her former friends no longer like her…or are scared of her, and the days of eating alone at lunch have started to blend together. It’s been exactly one year since Sara’s sister, Becca, disappeared, and high school life has far from settled back to normal.

Who is brave enough to find her–and who won’t make it out of the woods? Once a year, the path appears in the forest and Lucy Gallows beckons. Synopsis: In the faux-documentary style of The Blair Witch Project comes the campfire story of a missing girl, a vengeful ghost, and the girl who is determined to find her sister–at all costs.
